In order to reward the most outstanding students who are beginning their Master’s studies, EPFL offers a limited number of excellence fellowships, along with guaranteed housing, to candidates who have achieved remarkable academic results and who distinguish themselves in extracurricular activities, whether sporting, artistic, civic, or entrepreneurial.

| Duration | Up to 4 semesters (3 semesters for 90-credit master’s programs) |
| Eligibility | Applicants applying for an EPFL Master’s program; not eligible if candidate already holds a Master’s degree |
| Application Process | Tick the “Excellence Fellowship” box in the online Master’s application form; no extra documents required |
| Deadlines | External applicants: December 15 & March 31; Internal EPFL students: January 31 & April 15 |
| Renewal Requirements | Minimum 50 ECTS credits in the first year and a minimum grade average of 5.0 / 6 |
| Additional Benefits | Possible reserved student housing for external candidates; Certificate of Excellence awarded at graduation |
| Payment Method | Paid at the beginning of each semester into a Swiss bank or postal account |
| Combination With Other Scholarships | Cannot be combined with substantial scholarships; must declare all additional funding |
| Selection Criteria | Excellence in academics, extracurricular achievements, research work, and leadership |
| Result Announcement | Round 1: Early April; Round 2: Early to mid-June |
| Suspension / Cancellation | Can be suspended for internships or leave; canceled if academic requirements are not met |
