The University of Porto promotes and/or sponsors a wide range of financial support for its students and researchers in order to ensure equal opportunity regarding access to our courses and to reward the merit of those students who have displayed exceptional academic achievement.

| SASUP Scholarships | Students enrolled in Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Integrated Master’s programmes; excludes those with International Student Status | Monthly cash payments to help with costs of attending courses; renewed annually |
| Merit Scholarships | Students in Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Integrated Master’s programmes who have excellent academic performance; all students regardless of socio-economic status | Cash prizes for academic merit; plus special “Incentive Prizes” to top first-year students of each faculty, equivalent to the annual tuition fee |
| Scientific Scholarships | Undergraduate, Master’s, and Doctoral students involved in research projects in Portuguese science/technology institutions | Scholarships for scientific training; usually annual, extendable up to three years; minimum duration of three consecutive months |
| Other Support | Students who didn’t qualify for SASUP scholarships but are in temporary financial difficulty; also external scholarships for various international / national agreements | Social Support Fund; external scholarships/agreements; support from foundations, government entities, partner institutions, for example for students from Portuguese-Speaking African Countries |
